It is important to us that you feel prepared before your big day. Please see below a list of useful information you may need before selecting your wedding insurance. If you have any questions regarding the information below, please do contact us at hello@idoinsurance.co.uk.

Got questions? We've got answers

No, it’s a one-time payment. One and done, just like your vows (we hope!) Great cover, great value, no monthly fuss.

As soon as you’re putting money down, whether it is a deposit, a contract, or both. If there is cash on the line, it’s time to get covered (up to 24 months before the big day!). However, make sure you get your policy at no less that 14 days before the big day. No last minute ‘I do’s’ here!

Anyone can foot the bill - parents, pals, or the couple themselves, but the policy must be in the names of the two people tying the knot. After all, it’s their big day we are protecting!

Yes! Providing there is no drama brewing when you take out the policy, and it is within 24 months of the big day. If everything is running smoothly at the time, your deposit is protected from future hiccups.

Absolutely! As long as one of you is a UK resident, you’re good to go! Love knows no borders, and luckily, neither does our cover.

Whilst a change of heart, also called a ‘disinclination to proceed’, is not something wedding insurance can cover, we understand how emotionally difficult that can be. Support matters, therefore you may be able to claim for professional counselling under section nine of your policy. We are here for the heartache, even if we cannot fix the fallout.

Yes, if a close family member bereavement makes it inappropriate to go ahead, you are covered under section one of our policy. Just be sure to complete the medical declaration before purchasing. If a relative has a known medical condition and it is flagged in the form, we won’t be able to cover claims related to this condition, but everything else is protected. Not sure where you stand? Give us a call on 0161 505 1420 before purchasing- we’re happy to help you get it right.

If your professional photos fail and there are no backups, you are covered. We’ll help with the reasonable costs of re-taking formal shots of you and your immediate wedding party. It is not the same as the real moment, but we will make sure you still have memories to frame!

In most cases, yes! Existing medical conditions for both the couple and their close relatives are usually covered automatically. However, if the condition has a terminal prognosis, is awaiting hospital treatment or investigations, or you are waiting on a test result, you’ll need to declare it to us first and we’ll let you know if we can include it. If you are unsure, just give us a call on
0161 505 1420 – we are here to help you get the right cover, worry free.

If a supplier goes under, don’t panic. You can claim for any deposits you can recover, plus any reasonable extra costs to book and equivalent replacement. We have even spelled out exactly what counts as a wedding service supplier in your policy wording, so there are no surprises - just solutions.

Yes, you can claim for any deposits you cannot get back, plus any reasonable extra costs needed to secure a new venue. We know venues (and life) can be unpredictable, which is why we have detailed exactly what’s covered under ‘wedding service suppliers’ in your policy wording. We will keep the big day afloat! Even if the venue isn’t.

Yes! Public liability is included as standard, up to £2 million pounds. Need a little extra? You can add an optional extension to cover your wedding party too, also up to £2 million pounds. Or boost it even higher to £5 million pounds if needed! We’ve got you (and your clumsy guests) covered.

Not under this policy, you’ll need separate travel insurance for that. It is designed to cover things like trip cancellations or travel mishaps, so your romantic getaway doesn’t come with unexpected detours.

Yes, there’s a £100 excess on most sections of the policy. For Public Liability (sections 12, 13 & 14), the excess is £250. So if things go sideways, you won’t be footing the entire bill.
